Sen. Marcos Camp Urges COMELEC for Public Audit of Automated Election

The camp of the Vice Presidential candidate, Sen. Bongbong Marcos wants a public audit of the Commission on Election’s automated election to dispel doubts about the accuracy of the automated election results. In a press conference, transparency advocate Glenn Chong said there was a breach of protocol.

The breach in protocol allegedly surfaced when a Smartmatic official introduced a script in the Comelec transparency server that changed the character “?” to “ñ.” According to chong, it is not enough that the COMELEC only shows the original and changed script to prove that there was no cheating.

In an interview with the media, Glenn Chong stated that “Any IT expert worth his salt will not accept that,” he said. He added further that “What is the overriding necessity? Ano ang pinakamabigat na dahilan bakit ninyo rinisk ang integrity ng buong halalan para lang palitan ang question mark sa ñ?”

The camp of Sen. Marcos also added that becuase of the change in the script, the results of the vice-presidential race between Sen. Bongbong Marcos and Rep. Leni Robredo as well as other elections results particularly in the senatorial race was put into doubt.

Some reports revealed how the Marcos camp showed their evidence as they revealed to the media a chart that showed Marcos’ lead in the VP race dwindling until he was overtakn by Liberal Party bet Rep. Leni Robredo by Tuesday morning, May 10, 2016.

The Comelec has denied accusations of cheating, saying Robredo’s rise in the VP race is because the votes from her bailiwicks came in late.
