50 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) Losses Their Job In Australia

One Facebook user who is working in Australia wrote a message to Philippine Defense Forces Forum that at least 50 OFWs may lose their job. This Facebook user said that last April 19 their supervisor told them that their contracts will not be renewed anymore because of the remarks of PDP-Laban standard bearer Davao City Mayor Rodrigo “Rody Duterte” with regards to the issue of an Australian missionary.

On the post, he said, “Many of us OFWs who work for the same company live in a company-provided apartment complex here and there’s a group of around 10-15 OFWs from Mindanao who are rabid Duterte supporters, they are very mayabang and even bullied another OFW who openly said that he is against Duterte, they hang Duterte posters over the railings and wear Duterte shirts all the time”.

According to the narrative, when Duterte made a statement regarding the case, supporters said that they will remove their poster and stop their noisy gatherings.

But the Facebook user said that it’s too late already. Moreover, the owner of the company they are working with is a very devout Christian, and the owner was felt very insulted by Duterte’s remarks against her fellow Aussie.

Their supervisor told them that the contracts of all 50 Filipino workers will be no longer renewed and they will be replaced by Pacific Islanders.
