CBCP Exec Hits Against ‘Insensitive’ Solons for SONA ‘Fashion Show’

As lawmakers and regular attendees of the State of the Nation Address prepare for the upcoming big event marking President Benigno Aquino III’s last one, an official of the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) hit lawmakers for allegedly being insensitive to their constituents.

Aside from Aquino’s speech, SONA has excite the media for the lawmaker’s clothes and jewelries.

CBCP-National Appellate Matrimonal tribunal chair and Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Emeritus Oscar crus said that while lawmakers and government officials wear expensive attires and accessories, their consitutens were living a hand-t0-mouth existence.

“Yung parang mga fashion show minsan nahihiya ako,” Cruz recently said in a radio program.

“Magaganda ang suot nila, maraming perlas sa leeg, mga porselas na ginto. Pagkatapos, yung mga taong umaasa sa kanila ay hand-to-mouth existence lang,” he added.

The retired bishop even noted that the money politicians spend did not even come from them. He added all of it came from the people.

Cruz criticized the lawmaers for being “manhid” and for their “self-aggrandizement.”

He also encouraged lawmakers to listen to Filipinos who will protest during the SONA.

Pres. Aquino is slated to deliver his SONA, the sixth and the last on Monday at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City.

While it became a tradition to see politicians and other guests to flaunt expensive clothes, this last SONA is expected to be another steal the show.
