Vice President Jejomar Binay took a simple yet smart blow against citizenship issue speaking as guest of honor in the commemoration for the 20oth birthday anniversary of hero Apolinario “Hermani Puli” dela Cruz in Quezon Province.
Binay praised the hero’s loyalty to his nationality at the same time putting down those who are encouraging someone who has renounced his Filipino nationality to lead the country.
Apparently, he is referring to someone he did not mention.
“Mahal daw nila ang mga Pilipino. Kaya ngayon pa lang, isinusulong na nilang mamuno sa bansa ang minsang itinakwil ang pagiging Pilipino. Tama ba ito?,” Binay said to attending local officials, teachers, and student in Tayabas town.
He encouraged Filipinos to contemplate whether they deserve the sacrifices made by heroes like “Hermano Puli,” especially those who have pledged loyalty to another country.
He fired back at those who were born Filipinos but traded back as becoming citizens to other countries.
“Mga nagsisumpa pa na kakalabanin ang kanilang inang-bayan kung kailangan dahil sa kanilang panunumpa sa ibang bansa,” he said.
However, when asked if the Vice President was referring to Senator Grace Poe, Binay did not mention any name but rather said: “Bahala na kayo mag-isip doon basta’t…nabasa niyo na ba ‘yung Oath of Allegiance ng isang naturalized citizen?”
Earlier, Binay’s camp has opened up the citizenship issue against Poe.
Poe, who has been hounded by citizenship and residency issues, said on Sunday that she is ready to answer questions about this issue.
