Canadian ‘Unexpectedly’ Gives Birth on Japan Flight

TOKYO — aboard Air Canada flight to Tokyo, a Canadian woman gave birth on a plane after going into labor over the Pacific Ocean, an event described by the baby’s father as “completely unexpected”.

AirCanadaWith the help of a doctor who volunteered after a crew asked passengers for medical help, the 23-year old woman delivered a baby girl mid-air.

The plan had a priority landing at Narita Airport, just outside the Japanese capital.

“I couldn’t imagine. This happened completely unexpectedly,” the father, whose name was not revealed, told Japanese television.

“It turned out to be a beautiful baby girl,” he added.

The plane from Calgary bound for Narita landed 30 minute ahead of the schedule after being bumped up by the queue by air traffic controllers.

Emerging from the plane was the new born baby girl carried by dad into his arms and new mum in a wheelchair.

Air Canada spokesman said that the mother and the baby are doing well after they remained overnight in the hospital where they were taken.

Meanwhile, passengers aboard the flight are happy with the unexpected birth of the beautiful baby.

Air Canada allows pregnant with no previous history of premature labor to travel up to and including their 36th week.
