Universal Pictures online has just released a behind-the-scene clip from the upcoming movie “Pitch Perfect 2” featuring the all-male Filipino-American group Filharmonic.
Actress, director and producer Elizabeth Bank said in the video that they decided to put in the Filharmonic because they wanted to “represent multiple countries” in the main competition in the musical film breakthrough.
“The very first thing we did when we knew we wanted to represent multiple countries at the Worlds Competition was go to a cappella groups that sing in different languages,” she said.
“We just took inspirations from real life and actually put as many real groups into the finale as we could,” she added.
Meanwhile vocal producer Derek Sharon gave praises to the group.
“The Filharmonic was so much fun. They are actually all Filipino heritage so they are singing in Tagalog, the language of the Philippines,” he said.
Filharmonic started journeying stardom when they joined NBC’s talent show “The Sing-Off” in December 2013.
Filharmonic members VJ Rosales, Joe Caigoy, Trace Gaynor, Barry Fortgang, Jules Cruz and Niko Del Rey, said they consider their “Pitch Perfect” stint a “wild ride” and an “epic” experience.
The group also added that their scene in the movie “felt like a real concert.”
“Pitch Perfect 2” will be out in cinemas on May 13 featuring its original casts including Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Anna Camp.
Filipino-American actress Hailee Steinfeld will also be in the sequel.
