Abdirahman Sheik Mohamud, a US citizen originally from Somalia traveled to Syria and trained with terrorists then returned to initiate the plans.

The arrested Mohamud wanted to “kill three or four American soldiers execution style” while attacking the prison was part of the backup plan if the first didn’t work, as to charges.

As the indictment says, Mohamud, was arrested earlier this year on charges of money laundering and for providing support for terrorism in Columbus, Ohio.

Mohamud, 23, was also charged of allegedly making false statement to Ohio FBI agent that he was in Istanbul when authorities say he was in Syria, now facing a up to 38 years of imprisonment if convicted.

The counts against the arrested Mohamud will be pleaded not guilty in arraignment set Friday, Sam Shamansky, his attorney said.
Meanwhile two “unnamed” associates of Mohamud in the US whom he gave information about his plans were mentioned by the indictment including Mohamud’s video carrying an AK-47. According to the indictment, one of these “unnamed” associates said that the arrested was trying to recruit him to participate in the activities.

Mohamud’s arrest began sometime in Spetember 2013 when he corresponded online to his brother Abdifatah Aden who fought with Jabhat al-Nusrah, a State Department-designated terrorist group, until he was executed in field in Syria in June 2014

According to authority, the cleric instructed Mohamud to return to US to carry out the plot after he received training including “shooting weapons, breaking into houses, explosives, and hand-to-hand combat,”

The government also added that Mohamud became a US citizen in February 2014.
