The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will be having election for Sangguniang Kabataan this February 21, 2015. Registration period will start in September 20-29, 2014.
Filipinos who aged 15-17 years old on or before the date of election should register to be able to vote for the youth council. They should register to be part of the village-based youth council. They may head to the local Comelec office in their municipality or city to register.
The said youth poll is set to be on Saturdaym Fecbruary 21, 2015. This is according to the Resolution No. 9899 of the Comelec. This said resolution is promulgated on September 5, 2014 which is Friday.
Those interested applicants should bring the following:
- certificate of live birth
- baptismal certificate
- school records and,
- any other document that will establish your identity and qualifications.
However, if this documents are not available, applicants should be identifies by any person who is under oath. In addition, applicants should be resident of their barangays for at least 6 months.
Actually, the said SK election is supposed to be happen last year but then it was postponed due to the signing of President Benigno Aquino III of the Republic Act 10632. It means that SK polls is postponed to give away to the SK reform legislation.
It is said that there’s no law that had passed by the Congress. Since then, the Comelec decided to push through the SK elections and set it to February 2015.
