Cebu Suspensions of Classes Until November 3 Due to Earthquake

The Local Government of Cebu City declared class suspensions for the next two weeks, meaning all elementary and secondary levels in public schools will resume classes on November 4, 2013.

Mayor Mike Rama

The announcement was made on Sunday, October 20, 2013 by no less than the honorable Mayor of the City of Cebu, Mayor Michael Rama. The suspension of classes is due to the numerous aftershocks being experienced in the area following the magnitude 7.2 earthquake that hits the Visayas Region last Tuesday.

All public schools within the vicinity of Cebu City are advised to suspend their classes as ordered by the City Government. For the classes in private schools, the Cebu City Public Information Office said Mayor Rama will still meet its officials on Monday.

The Provincial government of Cebu declared earlier that the classes of all public and private schools in the areas affected by the 7.2 earthquake were suspended starting from Wednesday to Friday.

The entire province of Cebu and Bohol were already declared as Provinces who are under the state of calamity to facilitate the easier transfer of funds  for immediate relief operations in earthquake-affected areas.
