Out of 49 candidates who competed for the title of Miss Philippines Earth, the beauty and brain representative coming from Casiguran Aurora, Ms. Athena Mae Imperial was crowned as the 2011 Miss Philippines Earth and will represent the country in the coming Miss World 2011.
At the start of the competition, there were 49 candidates and each week 10 contestants are being eliminated until 10 of them left to fight for the title of Miss Philippines Earth.
The final showdown of the 10 candidates was held in Puerto Princesa, Palawan last Sunday and was hosted by actor John Estrada.
Athena Mae Imperial was a student in University of the Philippines and taking up M(–foul word(s) removed–) Communication. In her interview after the pageant, Imperial admitted that she was shocked when her name was called as the winner.
According to her, until now she cannot believe that she was crowned as the winner in the pageant and she felt very blessed. When she was asked about her secret for winning the crown, she said that what is important is to, embrace your beauty even your flaws because in that way you will shine.
Also winners in the Miss Earth Philippines are Jonavi Raisa representative from Puerto Princesa who got the title as the Miss Philippines-Air,Miss Water is Adrienne Orais, Michelle Gavagan as the Miss Fire and lastly Clio Shari Rico from Makati crowned as Miss Philippines Eco Tourism.
