Since the Reproductive Health (RH) Bill becomes the most-discussed topic in the Philippines, citizens who stand to support the President and the said issue is set to raise their views in the launch of Purple Ribbon Campaign.

President Benigno Aquino III himself had been there to motivate the said advocacy which is being debated under his regime.

Several political icon and celebrities were on sight on Wednesday. One of them is Fidel V. Ramos known to be the country’s former president. Ramos supports the bill along with some Cabinet officials as well as several lawmakers.

As a support for the proposal, the members of the academe were there to raise their supporting side. Even famous artists declare their part for the RH bill. The singer Lea Salonga being the celebrity amb(–foul word(s) removed–)ador was there to distribute purple-colored ribbons as a symbol for leading the advocacy.

The ABS-CBN President Oscar Lopez was also one among the big people counted for the support. Enrique Ona as the Secretary for the Department of Health joined them as well. Secretary Ona and the former Health Secretaries namely Alberto Romualdez and Jaime Galvez Tan likewise arrived on the launching event.

Moreover, Leticia Ramos-Shahani known to be the country’s former Senator came as well. The event had included lead convenor for the National Anti-Poverty Commission known as Joel Rocamora.

RH bill supporters brought inspiration to President Aquino saying that he will drive his promotion by upholding the proposed RH bill despite knowing the fact that he may lose the support of Roman Catholic Church.

Ex-president Ramos bravely stated their support to the Philippine President. Added to that is the statement given by Salonga urging the Aquino to be strong and to firmly stand for his view on the matter.

According to Esperanza Cabral who is the former Health Secretary, it is expected that more supporters are about to come in the next few days who will lift up the Pro-RH Bill campaign.

However, those who are against the RH bill proposal are seemingly unworried after knowing about this.

A warning tackled that if the RH bill will be pushed through, a civil disobedience could happen as they may by not paying BIR taxes. In this wise, some sectors could reflect their unhappiness towards the law according to the view of Citizens Alliance for the Protection of Human Life Chairman Lyndon Caña. As an answer, the Pro-RH group declared that such act is not a threat.

The Harapan debate hosted by ABS-CBN was brought up. With that, the respondents who joined the text poll resulted to 69.58% to 30.42% considering the favor to push the RH bill.

Furthermore, there was 63.91% who was able to express their support during a separate poll conducted via online. While, only 36.09% have been into the opposition.
