Virender Sehwag is the vice captain of Indian team for this year’s ICC cricket world cup, and he has announced that he is absolutely fit to play the tournament that will commence at 19th of February 2011. Sehwag has been absent from the team due to his shoulder injury and couldn’t play any single match of the entire tour of South Africa, but he had already said that he will recover just about in the nick of time.
In an interview to CNN-IBN, he said that was feeling some sort of pain in his very shoulder so he decided not to play the tour of South Africa. He made this decision for the betterment so that he could be fit for World Cup by not putting further strain to the shoulders until then, and giving it enough time to recover before the big event starts. He has received two injections from the Doc and he is perfectly fine now.
Although he said that he is absolutely fit to play the world cup but he will still attend NCA in Bangalore to practice his skills of bowling and batting and then if i will be giving my best during the practice sessions he will inform the team about it.
Although major teams like India, Australia, Sri Lanka take Bangladesh a little lighter than other competitors, but since Bangladesh had defeated India once during ICC World Cup 2007 India will not be taking them lightly this time. Sehwag has even said that that opening match will be a revenge match in which they will give their best to defend their pride and glory.
He further said that remaining competitors in the group can also be defeated if a proper game plan has implemented. He praised 200 runs land mark of Sachin Tendulkar in 2010 and said that his team has potential of breaking any record and turning the table of any game no matter how much under pressure the situation is.
However, he said that West Indies have got some nifty and experienced players like Chris Gayle, who if perform well can produce extreme difficulties for the opposition. But Sehwag believes in his team that they also got some magic players who can face any team in the world with fight spirit and perform well under any circumstances no matter how much pressure the stipulation and conditions try to put on India, they will always remain calm.
So let’s see how much Indian team will practically do what they have so far promised to do, at the biggest stage of ’em all -ICC Cricket World Cup.
