Melania Trump Copies Michelle Obama’s Speech?

Melania Trump, after her speech at the Republican National Convention, has been rocked by accusations of copying Michelle Obama’s speech delivered to the Democrats in 2008.

As compared to the speech delivered by Michelle Obama, it seemed that some parts of the speech Melania has delivered were just very similar to each other.

Try to compare the speech of the two here.

Melania Trump’s speech, Republican National Convention, 2016:

My parents impressed on me the values: that you work hard for what you want in life. That your word is your bond and you do what you say and keep your promise. That you treat people with respect. They taught me to show the values and morals in my daily life. That is the lesson that I continue to pass along to our son.

And we need to pass those lessons on to the many generations to follow. [Cheering] Because we want our children in this nation to know that the only limit to your achievements is the strength of your dreams and your willingness to work for them.

Michelle Obama’s speech delivered to Democrats in 2008:

And Barack and I were raised with so many of the same values: that you work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your bond and you do what you say you’re going to do; that you treat people with dignity and respect, even if you don’t know them, and even if you don’t agree with them.

And Barack and I set out to build lives guided by these values, and pass them on to the next generation. Because we want our children — and all children in this nation — to know that the only limit to the height of your achievements is the reach of your dreams and your willingness to work for them.

Here’s a side-by-side video comparing the two speeches, CNN:

Now, comparing the speeches above, one can really say that it’s really close to copying as it’s very extensive to say that what happened was mere coincidence. People call it plagiarism.

But early on, Melanie Trump, during an interview with NBC’s Matt Lauer, said that the said speech written by her and “with a little help as possible.”

In a report by The New York Times, Donald Trump’s campaign chairman Paul Manafort has reacted aggressively against the accusations of plagiarism thrown over Mrs. Trump’s speech. He even described it as a “great speech”. According to him, “it was crazy to think that is was plagiarism.
