Part Of Duterte’s Speech That Made Andanar Cry
Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar finally reveals what part of President Rodrigo Duterte’s speech made him cry.
In an interview by PhilStar, Sec. Andanar explained that the draft of the speech of Duterte during his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) was “powerful” and “emotionally stirring”. In previous reports, he said that the speech would “awaken the patriotism in every Filipino.”
According to him, before the SONA of the President on Monday, July 25, 2016, there will be an announcement that would really shock Filipinos.
Before, he said that he even rushed to his room and cried after reading the speech speaking about the patriotism of Duterte and his care for the younger generation. Andanar said this an initial reaction of reading the draft of Duterte’s speech.
With these statements given by the Secretary, Filipinos have had their expectations toward Duterte’s speech. Then, netizens appeared to question Andanar’s statements and said that they have waited for those “heart-warming” parts in the speech.
Netizens like Sen. Ping Lacson even said on his Twitter account that instead of making him “cry”, Duterte’s speech made him laugh.
Even a certain Dr. Jose P. Rizal said on Twitter, that he is wondering which part of the draft in the #DuterteSONA made the Secretary cry.
Another one said that Andanar might probably read a different speech.
But, Andanar then revealed in an interview that what moved him can be found in the first and the last page of the speech of President Duterte. He said that the part he’s referring is when Duterte talked about the separation of God and the State. This is because, according to him, he became a lay minister before.
