The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and various Local Government Units (LGUs), Private and Public establishments in the National Capital Region (NCR) participated in the country’s biggest and most comprehensive preparations against a possible earthquake that may hit Metro Manila in the near future.
The MMDA and PHIVOLCS release a 30-second audio recording that will signal the start fo the metro-wide shake drill today, July 30, 2015. The MMDA posted the audio file of the recording on its Twitter account and said that it will also be played in public announcement systems.

According to various government agencies involved in the Metro Manila Shake Drill, the event will be participated by various government agencies, businesses, schools, and private organizations. It will start at around 10:30 AM and will last for one hour.
According to the MMDA, the activity aims to provide participants with a “real-world training scenario in preparation for a possible earthquake in Metro Manila.” The MMDA claimed that they have recorded more than 700,000 volunteers to participate in the event as of July 27, 2015.
