The Department of Labor and Employment through Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz advised the private sector employers to observe the pay rules on Independence Day this coming June 12, 2015, Friday. The Philippines will be celebrating the 117th Independence Day, one of the few Regular Holidays in the entire country.
According to DOLE, the private sector employers should observe voluntary compliance with labor standards, particularly with payment of correct wages/salaries of employees who will report for work on June 12.
Pres. Aquino already declared that June 12 is a Regular Holiday under the proclamation 831 of the chief executive dated July 17, 2014.
DOLE Secretary Baldoz added further that proper observance of all holiday pay rules enhances decent work and builds productivity of employees because voluntary labor standards greatly contribute to social protection and competitiveness of business and industry, the DOLE Secretary stated.
Here’s the Holiday Pay Rules for June 12, 2015:
• If the employee did not work, he or she shall be paid 100 percent of his or her salary for that day.
• If the employee worked, he or she shall be paid 200 percent of his/her regular salary for that day for the first eight hours. For work done in excess of eight hours (overtime work), the employee shall be paid an additional 30 percent of his or her hourly rate.
• If 12 June is the employee’s rest day and he or she still reported for work, he or she shall be paid an additional 30 percent of his or her daily rate of 200 percent.
• If the employee worked more than eight hours on his or her rest day on 12 June, he or she shall be paid an additional 30 percent of his or her hourly rate on the day.
