Pres. Bongbong Marcos, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speak on Resumption of Full Face-to-Face Classes
BONGBONG MARCOS – The President and Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte got different plans over the full face-to-face classes order.
The COVID-19 pandemic urged the Department of Education (DepEd) to adopt a new method of the delivery of lessons and classroom instructions to students. Instead of the usual face-to-face classes that has been the method of the delivery of lessons for decades already, the educational field adopted blended learning.
Under blended learning, the lessons and classroom instructions are delivered to the students through online classes or modules depending on which is more convenient for them. The mode of teaching was adopted for the safety of the students as gatherings are prevented to fight the spread of the virus.
Following the start of the six-year term of the new administration, DepEd Secretary and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte set the resumption of the full face-to-face classes in November.
In an order released by DepEd, the full face-to-face classes will start on November 2. Prior to it, schools may implement face-to-face classes for three to four days a week blended with online classes or modules.
However, based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pres. Bongbong Marcos and DepEd Secretary and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s plans regarding the implementation of the full face-to-face classes differ.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos ordered the review of the areas wherein blended learning should continue while preparing for the devices and other needs of students that were not supplied during the pandemic. According to the report, DepEd Secretary and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte said that the Education department will prepare a plan to be submitted to the President.
“No details are forthcoming anytime soon. The requirement of the five-day in-person classes by November 2, 2022, is still in effect,” she said.
