PAGASA Says Tropical Depression Agaton to Affect PH Weather Condition

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the Tropical Depression Agaton will continue to bring inclement weather conditions over some parts of the country. 

On Tuesday (April 12, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The Tropical Depression Agaton will continue to affect the country’s weather conditions. 

PAGASA reported that the Tropical Depression has been last spotted at 11.2°N, 125.2°E in the vicinity of Marabut, Samar. It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 75 kph.

Agaton is expected to bring moderate to heavy with at times intense rains over Eastern Visayas, Bicol Region, the northern and central portions of Cebu, including Bantayan and Camotes Islands, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, Antique, Guimaras, and the northern and central portions of Negros Provinces. 

Light to moderate with at times heavy rains are expected over MIMAROPA, Dinagat Islands, Zamboanga del Norte, Quezon, and the rest of Visayas. 

“Under these conditions and considering significant antecedent rainfall, scattered to widespread flooding (including flooding) and rain-induced landslides are still expected especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps,” the weather agency said.

The weather disturbance will continue to affect Samar-Leyte area within the next 6 to 12 hours. 

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 still remain in the following areas: 

  • Southern portion of Masbate (Dimasalang, Cawayan, Palanas, Placer, Cataingan, Esperanza, Pio V. Corpuz) 
  • Eastern Samar 
  • Samar 
  • Northern Samar 
  • Biliran 
  • Leyte 
  • Southern Leyte 
  • the northeastern portion of Cebu (Daanbantayan, Medellin, City of Bogo, Tabogon, Borbon, Sogod) including Camotes Island 
  • Dinagat Islands 

The coastal water condition over the entire country will be rough. The authorities advised the fisherfolks that sea travel remains risky for small seacrafts.
