Bobby Nalzaro Dies At 58, GMA Network Issues Statement

Veteran broadcaster Bobby Nalzaro dies but the cause of his death is yet to be revealed.

BOBBY NALZARO – “Super Bob” Bobby Nalzaro passes away at 58 years old and this is the official statement of the Kapuso network.

Seasoned broadcaster-newspaper columnist Bobby Nalzaro passed away on Thursday, March 17. He was 58 years old and his family is yet to disclose the cause of his death and the details of his funeral. It has been said that he was admitted from December 24 to December 30 last year in the hospital because of his hypertension.

He was popularly known as “Super Bob” anchoring Balitang Bisdak, the afternoon news program of the GMA network. Nalzaro also has a morning program over dySS, a station where he was the manager. Apart from broadcasting, he also writes columns. His columns appear on SunStar Cebu and Super Balita.

The Cebu Citizens Press Council (CCPC) released a statement regarding his death. The statement expressed that while they mourn over the loss, they are also celebrating his “invaluable legacy in journalism”.

They added, “Bobby achieved the kind of success that eludes most others: he earned the trust of a vast and loyal audience.”

Also grieving is the GMA network. He served as the Radio GMA Cebu’s Station Manager and did a commentary program for Super Radyo DYSS-AM. In a statement, GMA expressed their deep sorrow for his death.

In the statement, the network quipped, “A loyal Kapuso, his dedication to the industry will serve as an inspiration to all. We pray for his eternal repose.”

In his career, Nalzaro has faced several libel suits. He also received threats because of his fierce and fearless commentaries and reporting.
