For certain ‘unvaccinated persons,’ the Taguig City administration has tightly imposed better vaccination checks. This is in response to the government’s directive that everyone gets vaccinated against coronavirus illness (COVID-19) and other infectious diseases.
The authorities halted automobiles, passengers, and pedestrians one by one on General Santos avenue in barangay North Daang Hari, where they were holding a checkpoint, in conjunction with the Safe City Task Force and Taguig-PNP. Many travelers were detained because they were unable to produce a valid vaccination card.
Others didn’t finish their second dose. Stationed City troops delivered these to the city’s nearest immunization hub. Despite this, Renelie Joie Cadelina, an adult resident of 1 Ilang-Ilang St. Purok 6-C, Lower Bicutan, Taguig City, created a scene while disputing with the police.
According to the complaint, she reportedly shattered a bottle in front of checkpoint officers. Cadelina yelled at the cops and media, slamming the microphone of a cameraman in the process.
The woman’s rage subsided only when she was led to the barangay hall by some barangay officials. Meanwhile, Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano stated that the goal of this local government policy is to persuade ‘unvaccinated’ people to protect themselves and stop the virus from spreading further.
