Maxine Medina On Why She Can’t Do Daring Roles

MAXINE MEDINA – Former beauty queen and “First Yaya” actress Maxine Medina revealed why she can’t accept daring roles.

Maxine Medina is an actress, designer and a beauty queen. She was crowned Miss Universe Philippine 2016. She represented the county in the Miss Universe 2016 pageant.

She was the first Pinay to tap an interpreter during the Q&A portion on the prestigious pageant. She finished as a top 6 semifinalist.

After her stint as a beauty queen, Maxine Medina entered showbiz and has appeared in several movies and tv shows. In a previous article, she was asked if she will consider taking on mature roles similar to her fellow beauty queens Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa, BB. Pilipinas Tourism 2013 Cindy Miranda, and Miss Universe 2013 Philippines Ariella Arida.

The 31-year-old celebrity answered and said she refused to do the same in her career. She said she doesn’t want to commit projects that would require her to portray a s*xy image.

Based on a report from PUSH, Maxine Medina said she can’t accept daring roles because she grew up in a conservative family and she respects her father. Aside from being conservative she said she also grew up in a religious family.

“I’m a Catholic din po. And siguro, for them, it’s art. Pero sa akin po talaga, no-no po talaga! Kasi ang mom and dad ko po, talagang watching over me. Di ba, parang ang hirap naman po?”

“Nung bata kami, every 7 pm. lagi kaming nagdarasal, rosary, ganyan. Pero yung acting, it’s very liberating. Dati pigil na pigil ako kasi siyempre yung upbringing kasi sa amin, sa family namin na very conservative.”

“Hindi ka puwedeng maging malandi. Hindi ka puwedeng maging ganyan. Basta alam mo yung parang ano—hangga’t kaya mong tiisin, tiisin mo. Pero do as much as kung ano yung tinuro ni God, kung ano yung tinuro ni Jesus, ng parents mo. Pero nung pinasok ko na ang pag-arte, napakarami kong natutunan. Masuwerte rin ako na lagi akong tinuturuan ng mga co-actors ko noon sa Los Bastardos,” she added.
