From pageantry to acting, here’s how Maxine Medina coped up
Beauty queen-turned-actress Maxine Medina shared how she had a smooth transition from her stint in the world of pageantry to the world of acting.
It is quite normal in the Philippines that beauty queens will eventually have their transition to doing TV series or movies. Although there were those who did not directly venture into acting still they became part of the entertainment industry.
Maxine also joined those who came from pageants then into acting. She shared that her experience in pageants has contributed a lot when she officially started her acting career.
During a recent interview for her new Kapuso series First Yaya featuring the tandem of Sanya Lopez and Gabby Concepcion, Maxine Magalona said that she came more prepared for showbiz because of her pageant experience, based on the article in Bandera.
“Alam ko na kung paano i-handle ang lahat ng tao around me, para hindi masaktan ang sarili ko. May shield pa rin,” she said.
She also attributed the smooth transition to the respect that she earned. Talking about her role as kontrabida, Maxine said that it is her first time. The Binibining Pilipinas-Universe 2016 added that veteran actress Pilar Pilapil, who also represented the Philippines in Miss Universe pageant, helped her.
“I’m a rookie kontrabida. Pero mayroon din kaming sagutan ni Tita Pilar,” sabi ni Medina. Takot na takot ako sa kanya (Pilar Pilapil). Sinasabi niya ‘relax ka lang.’ Gina-guide niya ako,” Maxine Medina shared.
She also said that her co-stars are easy to work with and she commended their dedication in making every scene the best that it could be.
