Update on China COVID-19 Vaccination
CHINA – The East Asian country tops the vaccination against COVID-19 with one (1) billion of its people now fully vaccinated.
The COVID-19 pandemic remains to be the biggest battle in front of a lot of countries now. The virus that was reported to have been first recorded in China continues to spread across nations.
The World Health Organization (WHO) previously warned countries not to let their guards down early. According to WHO, the pandemic may be a long-term battle and keeping the guards up can help prevent another surge of the virus.
Unfortunately, amid the ongoing battle against the pandemic that is going on for over a year now, several nations experienced another spike in coronavirus cases. The detection of new variants of the virus was considered a factor.
Many nations now are exerting maximum efforts to prevent the spread of the Delta variant. It is currently the variant of concern for its higher transmissibility rate.
Nations now are in the process of vaccinating their people. Several vaccine brands are circulating across the globe – Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Sinovac, Moderna, Sinopharm, Janssen, Sputnik V, and Sputnik Light. Countries are in the pursuit to achieve “herd immunity” or population protection.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, China currently tops the COVID-19 vaccination. More than 1.01 billion people in the East Asian country are now fully vaccinated against coronavirus.
According to the report, over 2.16 billion jabs were administered to the people as per National Health Commission disease prevention chief Lei Zhenglong. Out of the total, 170 million jabs were administered to 95 million teenagers and 390 doses were given to individuals above 60 years old.
China has 1.4 billion people and the current figures show that 72% of its population are fully vaccinated. Previously, its target was 70-80% of its population must be vaccinated but the emergence of the Delta variant urged the country to raise the bar to 85%.
