Several Areas in Batangas Flooded Due to Continuous Heavy Rainfall 

Several areas in Batangas experienced flooding as continuous heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon. 

On Saturday morning (August 8, 2026), residents woke up to rising floodwaters after hours of nonstop rainfall. In Batangas City, flooding was reported in several communities, causing concern among motorists and residents traveling through affected roads.  

One of the areas hit by flooding was Lawas Junction in Barangay Calicanto, Batangas City. Floodwaters in the area reached gutter-deep levels, making it difficult for vehicles and pedestrians to pass through safely. 

The situation also slowed traffic as motorists tried to navigate the flooded streets with caution. 

Flooding was likewise reported in parts of Kumintang, Batangas City, where water levels rose quickly because of the continuous downpour. Residents closely monitored the situation as the rain continued throughout the morning. 

In the municipality of Balayan, floodwaters were also seen in front of Bonville, adding to the growing list of affected areas across the province. Local authorities continued to monitor conditions and advised residents to stay alert, especially in low-lying communities that are more vulnerable to flooding. 

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Batangas is among the areas expected to experience heavy rainfall due to the southwest monsoon. 

Rainfall amounts may reach between 50 and 100 millimeters, which could trigger flooding in flood-prone areas and increase the risk of landslides in mountainous locations. 

PAGASA has also issued a General Flood Advisory for the CALABARZON region, urging residents to remain vigilant and closely follow weather updates. People living near rivers, creeks, and low-lying areas were advised to take precautionary measures and prepare for possible evacuation if conditions worsen. 

Authorities continue to monitor the weather situation as the habagat remains active, bringing persistent rains to several parts of Luzon. Residents are encouraged to prioritize safety and stay informed through official advisories and announcements.
