Katseye Fans Left Heartbroken as Sophia Laforteza Takes a Hiatus

Katseye Temporarily Loses Another Member as Sophia Laforteza Takes a Break

KATSEYE – Sophia Laforteza is putting her health first, taking a temporary break from Katseye activities following medical advice to get extended rest and care.

Filipina singer Sophia Laforteza, the leader of global girl group Katseye, is temporarily taking a break from the group’s promotional activities as she focuses on her mental health and recovery.

Sophia’s labels, Hybe and Geffen Records, announced her hiatus through a statement posted on Weverse. The agencies emphasized that the singer’s health and overall well-being remain their primary concern.

According to the labels, Sophia has the full support of her team and has been advised by medical professionals to take an extended period of rest and continue receiving care. While she remains eager to perform with her fellow members, her recovery will take priority for now.

“While Sophia herself is eager to perform alongside her members, the health, safety, and long-term well-being of our artists will always remain our highest priority,” they added.

Hybe and Geffen Records also said they would continue monitoring Sophia’s condition and supporting her throughout her recovery. The agencies plan to evaluate her situation again after one month.

“We sincerely appreciate your understanding and continued support for Sophia, and we look forward to her being back with Katseye,” the labels ended.

Sophia also shared the announcement with her followers, known as Eyekons, on Instagram. Alongside the statement, she posted a heartfelt message explaining how difficult it was for her to step away from the group.

“It truly breaks my heart to have to miss out on a lot. You know how much I love being on stage, performing, and sharing these moments with you,” the singer began.

She explained that choosing to prioritize her health was necessary because continuing without proper rest could make it harder for her mind and body to cope. Sophia expressed gratitude for the patience, understanding, and love she has received from fans and promised to focus on healing before returning stronger.

The specific reason behind her current hiatus was not disclosed. However, Sophia has previously spoken publicly about being diagnosed with ADHD several years ago. In May, she described experiencing “a lot of internal restlessness” and “difficulty sleeping and focusing.”

“ADHD is really a struggle, it’s a real thing and I get it. It took a lot for me to even accept that it was something that I had,” she said then. “I had to accept it was something chemical, not about the person I am or being lazy and demotivated.”

Katseye is now temporarily missing two members, as Manon Bannerman has also been on hiatus since February for well-being reasons.

Despite Sophia’s absence, Katseye is set to release its new EP “Wild” next week. Lara Raj, Daniela Avanzini, Jeung Yoon-chae, and Megan Skiendiel are scheduled to begin the group’s second world tour next month. Sophia and potentially Manon may rejoin the tour as their respective recoveries progress.
