Pope Francis Saddened by the Late Former Pres. Noynoy Aquino’s Death
POPE FRANCIS – The Catholic leader sent a statement to Malacañang over the death of the late former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
The death of the late former Pres. Noynoy Aquino came as a shock to a lot of people – even to his own sisters who knew about his health condition. He died of renal disease secondary to diabetes last June 24.
According to the people close to him, PNoy was undergoing dialysis and was set for a kidney transplant. However, it was really his decision to keep things in private. He also underwent angioplasty in preparation for his kidney transplant. It was quite long before he agreed to undergoing a transplant.
However, PNoy’s death came before his transplant. He was not feeling well and missed two (2) dialysis sessions. Last Juen 24, he was found unconscious in his reclining chair and was declared dead when he was rushed to the Capitol Medical Center.

The Filipinos were shocked by the death of the late former Pres. Noynoy Aquino. His friends and family abruptly went to the hospital. His remains were cremated on the same day and was brought home by his family before it was brought to Ateneo de Manila University for the mass and services.
Messages of love and expressions of sympathy and comfort outpoured the Aquino family. Not only the Filipinos are saddened by the death of the late former Pres. Noynoy Aquino but also those he had met during his term as the Chief Executive. One of them is Pope Francis.
In 2015, during the term of PNoy, the Catholic Leader had a 5-day visit to the Philippines. The Philippine President presented him a sculpture of the Blessed Mother Mary while the Pope gave the Chief Executive a facsimile of a Nautical Map attributed to Bartolome Oliva. It was part of the collection of the Vatican Library.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pope Francis sent a statement to Malacañang over the death of the late former Pres. Noynoy Aquino. He expressed consolation to everyone who mourn the death of the former Chief Executive.
“Recalling the late president’s service to the nation, I commend his soul into the hands of the all-merciful God. Upon his family and all who mourn his passing, I invoke abundant consolation and peace in the Lord,” the Pope said.
PNoy’s remains were cremated and he was laid to rest beside his parents at the Manila Memorial Park. His sisters are vocal about their gratitude, love, and how proud they are of him.
