DOH Observes New Increase in the Philippines’ Average Daily COVID-19 Cases

DOH – The Department of Health spotted another increase in the average daily cases of COVID-19 recorded in the Philippines.

The battle against the COVID-19 pandemic is undeniably a tough one that Philippines has yet to fully win. Daily, there are still new cases of this coronavirus disease recorded in the country. Everyone is urged to continue practicing the health protocols.

The people are required to wear a face mask when going in public places and to practice social distancing. Most malls and other public establishments also require a face shield aside from a face mask upon granting of entry.

The whole PH is still under different community quarantine measures now. Metro Manila which is tagged as the epicenter of the spread of COVID-19 is currently under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) with heightened measures.

The provinces of Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, and Bulacan are also under GCQ with heightened measures. Most parts of the country remain under MGCQ while the vaccination is rolling out.

The national government has already started with the vaccination of the healthcare workers, the senior citizens, and those who have co-morbidities. They are also eyeing the vaccination of the economic workers and the poor Filipinos to start this month.

Unfortunately, recently, another increase in the average daily COVID-19 cases recorded in the Philippines was spotted by the Department of Health (DOH). Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, from around 5,300 average daily COVID-19 cases from May 20-26, it has increased to an average of 6,691 from May 27 to June 2.

According to the DOH, all areas including the capital region increased in terms of COVID-19 cases. With regards to the speed of transmission, according to the report, a faster transmission than Luzon’s was noted by the health department in Mindanao.

The authorities continue to remind the public that the war against COVID-19 is not yet over. Currently, travel bans are on for several countries following the detection of new variants of this coronavirus disease.
