Replace Pork Meat With These Alternative Substitutes
The price of pork meat continues to increase due to the effects of African Swine Fever but you can replace it with this alternative substitutes.
Over the past few months, the African Swine Fever continues to spread in different countries all around the world including the Philippines. The disease is severely affecting the supply of live stocks particularly in Luzon.
The ASF causes shortage in supply of pork meat but the Visayas and Mindanao are supplying meat in Luzon to cope up the shortage. The supply shortage causes an increase with the price of pork meat.
On Tuesday (November 24, 2020), the chef Tristran Bayani has shared an alternative substitute to replace pork meat. He also said that this alternative could replace pork in some popular dishes.
Bayani revealed that chicken breast and tofu could replace pork meat in some recipes. He said that these alternatives have the closest texture and color to the meat but advised consumers to use paprika and rosemary as condiments.

“Chicken breast ang pinakamalapit sa pork dahil white meat siya. And tofu, puwede ‘yan, Importante talaga ‘yung seasoning. ‘Yung medyo lalapit tayo roon sa paborito nating lutuin ng baboy nga…,” Bayani said.
The chef also advised the public to use chicken meat during the Christmas season to save some cash due to the soaring prices of beef and pork.
