Former teleserye queen Claudine Barretto filed a Temporary Protection Order (TPO) against her estranged husband, Raymart Santiago, before the Marikina Regional Trial Court on Monday morning, July 29. She was accompanied by her legal counsel, Atty. Ferdinand Topacio.
According to Atty. Topacio, her client Claudine Barretto had been thinking about his move for a while and it’s just now that she had the courage to file the complaint. Although the legal counsel of Claudine did not disclose any details about the petition, Topacio stated that Barretto only wants herself and her children to be protected against Santiago.
Atty. Topacio stated after the TPO filing and was quoted as saying that, “Kami ay umaasa na ito ay agarang maaprubahan. Ang hinihiling namin dito ay hindi makalapit si Mr. Raymart Santiago sa aking kliyente at sa mga bata, na hindi po magkaroon ng actual physical threat. Marami po kaming hinihiling doon sapagkat napagkaalaman namin na may mga armas na pag-aari, high-powered firearms si Mr. Santiago at ito po ay kasama sa TPO pati ang pagbibigay ng suporta,” he said.
Aside from not giving additional information to the media, Atty. Topacio also asked the media to give Claudine Barretto some space, saying that what she is going through now is a very sensetive matter.
Meanwhile in a separate interview with dzMM radio, Claudine Barretto asked her supporters to pray for her family. According to her, she is trying her best to be okay for her children, be strong for her children and for her family. Right now the actress is not yet ready to talk, all she wanted is to be protected.
