BFP Personnel Who Allegedly Entered Boracay Has Positive COVID-19 Test Results

BORACAY – A BFP personnel who reportedly visited the popular tourist destination Boracay tests positive for COVID-19.

The Facebook page “Energy FM 107.7” reported that BFP Personnel from Iloilo who reportedly entered Boracay Island tests positive for coronavirus disease. Malay Acting Mayor Frolibar Bautista confirmed the report on Tuesday morning (June 16, 2020).

Governor Florencio Miraflores has already ordered the contact tracing to the people who had been with the unnamed BFP personnel over the past few days. The contact tracing would start at the BFP Regional Office.

The 26-year-old COVID positive personnel reportedly visited Boracay Island last June 12, 2020, together with the Regional Director and 28 others before he tested positive for the virus. DILG Secretary Eduardo Año and the BFP staff arrived on the same day.

The patient who is given an alias “WV 144” arrived in Iloilo last June 5, 2020, from Cebu. It was all too late when the personnel found that he is positive for COVID-19. Mayor Jerry Treñas also expressed his disappointment,

Last June 6, the BFP employee underwent a rapid antibody-based test and RT PCR test but had a negative result on the rapid tests. On June 14, 2020, he tested positive for the virus on the RT PCR test.
