Duterte Tells Parents Not To Blame Government If Their Children Catch COVID-19
DUTERTE TO PARENTS – President Rodrigo Duterte told parents who let their kids go out to not blame to government if they contract the new coronavirus, COVID-19.
During a taped speech on late Monday, the President emphasized that the fight against COVID-19 was not over even with easing restrictions. According to an article from Inquirer, Duterte stated:
Look, I can’t stop all of you from going out. I can’t catch you all.
The problem is that when you go out with your kids or you allow your children to go out when the place is not ready for them to be outside and they get sick, don’t blame us.
Do not forget that we warned you about the grave consequences
As per the article, Duterte highlighted how thousands were still dying worldwide due to the deadly virus, especially in the slums of other countries.
Currently. the Philippines had yet to flatten of slow down the curve of the virus. Everyday, the Department of Health reports an average of 300 new cases, not including their “late cases”.
Meanwhile, researchers from the University of the Philippines predicts that come June 30, the country would have 40.000 confirmed coronavirus cases. Previously, the same researchers successfully predicted that the country would have 24,000 cases by June 15.
As of writing, the Philippines had recorded 26,420 cases of COVID-19. Of this number, 1,098 have succumbed to the virus while 6,252 patients have recovered.
