DOH Says 339 Doctors & 242 Nurses in PH Positive for COVID-19

DOH – The Department of Health revealed that 581 doctors and nurses in the Philippines are infected with with COVID-19.

While China, the country where coronavirus was first recorded, is recovering, several nations are battling hard against the spread of the disease. One of these countries is the Philippines.

In line with the fight against the spread of COVID-19 in the Philippines, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte placed the whole of Luzon under an Enhanced Community Quarantine. The President also declared a state of calamity in the whole nation.

Not only Luzon but as well as provinces in Visayas and Mindanao are implementing the ECQ. Social distancing must be observed according to the authorities to prevent the spread of the infection.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), there is now a total of 5,878 cases of COVID-19 confirmed in the Philippines. Out of the total number, 487 coronavirus patients have recovered while 387 died of the disease.

Based on a report on Inquirer, DOH revealed that 581 of the confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines are medical professions. Doctors who are positive for the disease are at 339 now while there are 242 nurses who are also infected.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire also expressed that in totality, 766 health workers in the Philippines are positive for coronavirus. There are already 22 healthcare workers who died of the disease and at least twelve (12) of them are doctors.

Based on the report, the Health Department did not disclose if there is or no one from the infected medical professionals have recovered from the disease. They expressed their sympathy to the families of those who died against the pandemic.

“Taus puso kaming nakikiramay sa pamilya ng mga healthcare workers na naulila buhat ng COVID-19,” Vergeire expressed.
