These 25 Local Officials Won The Election Despite Of Their Involvement In President Duterte’s Narcolist
25 LOCAL OFFICIALS – Out of 46 politician names involved in the President’s narcolist, 25 of them won in the 2019 elections last Monday.
On April 30 last year, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency or PDEA released a list of names of barangay officials included in President Duterte’s narcolist.
Just recently, Aaron Aquino, the director general of PDEA confirmed the information that 25 local officials out of the 46 included in the released narcolist won in the local elections.
Aquino also revealed that most of the winning candidates that were involved in the narcolist ran for mayoral positions. 11 of the involved politicians lost the election and 10 did not file for candidacy.
Rodriguez, Rizal mayor Tom Hernandez was one of the winning candidates who was also involved in the narco list. He gained 40,527 total votes winning against another candidate Romy Garcia by 2,003 votes.
Mayor Hernandez and his father Cecillo Hernandez were both included in President Duterte’s list of politicians allegedly involved in illegal drug transactions.
Another name in the list was mayor Roberto Luna Jr. of Lingig, Surigao del Sur who also won the mayoral race and was reelected.
This is according to an article from PhilStar.
In total, 46 politicians’ names were involved in the narco list revealed by the president last March. The list includes the names of local execs, lawmakers and an ex-mayor.
Although over half of the list of politicians still won authoritative positions in the election, Aquino claimed that he is not disappointed.
Aquino also stated that he is confused about why some of our countrymen still voted for the alleged drug crime involved politicians.
When asked if the politicians would be facing charges, the Malacañang spokesperson said that it will depend on the validity presented evidences.
That is all there is to it, at least for now. We’ll post updates as soon as we got them.
