AIKO MELENDEZ – Kapamilya actress Aiko Melendez revealed the reasons behind her decision not to run for Quezon City second district councilor.

One of the celebrities who do not only have an acting career but also a political career is Kapamilya actress Aiko Melendez. From 2001 until 2010, she served as the councilor of the second district of Quezon City.

With regards to her showbiz career, the Kapamilya actress starred in the ABS-CBN revenge television series Wildflower. After it, she was offered to do a role in the primetime fantasy series Bagani, which she gladly accepted.

Undeniably, Aiko Melendez has a successful path in the public service and as well as a flourishing showbiz career.

Considering both, many of the fans and supporters of the actress-politician are curious as to which path would she be focusing on next since the 2019 election is fast approaching.

Based on a report on Pep, Aiko Melendez has already broken her silence and issues a statement regarding her decision. The actress-politician is not running for Quezon City councilor in the 2019 elections.

Speaking to Pep through Viber, Aiko expressed that, for her, it is more important to be on Mayor Jay Khonghun‘s side as he takes a bid for the Vice Governor of Zambales.

The Subic Mayor is the boyfriend of the actress. They are in a relationship for more than a year now and he is running for Vice Governor in his province.

Based on the report, aside from being on the side of her boyfriend, Aiko Melendez also have works lined up in front of her in the coming years. She does not want to give only half of her time to public service.

Meanwhile, the Kapamilya actress assured there are lots of ways wherein she can help Quezon City which is close to her heart. Here is the statement of the actress sent to Pep:

“Nitong mga nakaraang araw madami ang nauudyok sa akin, na ako ay bumalik sa pulitika.

“Nakakataba ng puso. Sa paglipas ng ilang taon na pamamahinga sa public service, ako ay naiisip pa din ng mga ka-distrito ko para manilbihan muli sa kanila.

“To be honest I’ve had sleepless nights, I was really considering to run for the right reasons.

“Lalo na nung lumalabas pa din ang aking pangalan sa surveys na ginawa ng mga taga Lungsod Quezon.

“Una dahil 9 years naman akong nanilbihan bilang konsehal ng District 2, Quezon City, pagdating sa papasukan ko hindi ako mababato na hindi ko alam ang aking pinapasukan.

“Mainly because for 9 years, public service became my life. In this field, I have learned so much.

“I have learned to simplify my life and fight for the women.
