Aiko Melendez Reveals Why She Accepted ‘Bagani’ Role Not Kapuso’s Offer

Why did Aiko Melendez prefer ABS-CBN’s offer than GMA-7’s offer?

AIKO MELENDEZ – Kapamilya actress Aiko Melendez revealed the reason why she preferred to do the role offered to her for Bagani than the offer of the GMA-7 network.

Undeniably, Aiko Melendez’s portrayal as Emilia Ardiente-Torillo in the ABS-CBN’s revenge television series Wildflower gave her biggest breaks in the Philippine show business. Many loved the story and as well as every character in the TV series.

Based on a report, Aiko worked together with Maja Salvador in the said TV series that hooked lots of viewers. Among the other casts of the Kapamilya show are Tirso Cruz III, Wendell Ramos, Sunshine Cruz, RK Bagatsing, Joseph Marco, and Vin Abrenica.

After doing Wildflower, some of the casts of the revenge TV series received offers from the GMA-7 network.

Speaking to the source, Aiko admitted that she is close to Sunshine that is why she knew that the actress received an offer from the Kapuso network. On the case of Wendell, she expressed that she was surprised when she knew that he is set to do a project under the Kapuso network.

“Yung kay Wendell hindi ko alam… Kasi hindi naman kami masyadong nag-uusap ni Wendell so alam kong si Sunshine yung may offer sa kabila… I’d be the happiest kasi sa kanila naman, especially with Sunshine, she’s a single mom, she just needed to work,” the actress said.

Based on the report, speaking to the source and TV Patrol in a separate interview, Aiko Melendez revealed that she was “handpicked” by Malou Santos and Olive Lamasan for Bagani. The latter is very close to her heart as she is the filmmaker that gave her her first acting award.

“Coming from Inang Olive na she wants me to do this, kahit anu pa yung offer noong kabila, ito tinanggap ko kasi the project itself is very big so I feel blessed na sinama ako dito,” she said.

Based on the report, Aiko Melendez plays the role of Matadora in the ABS-CBN fantasy series. She is the leader of the pirates in Sansinukob and it’s a challenge for her to get away from Emilia Ardiente-Torillo and play a role of a character that speaks deep Tagalog words.
