Work Stoppage Order To The Construction Ayala Mall Bacolod Issued By DOLE
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has issued a work stoppage order towards the construction of Ayala Mall Bacolod after the incident.
On Saturday early morning (November 11, 2017), a portion of Ayala Malls in Gatuslao St. Bacolod City, which is currently under construction suddenly collapsed for an undetermined reason.
The incident took the lives of at least two construction workers identified as Heracleo Abraham, 36-year-old from Purok 6, Sitio Magsungay, Brgy. Singcang-Airport of Bacolod City and Dodie Boy Mallorca, 32-year-old from Chamberry, Manapla.
On Monday (November 13, 2017), DOLE-Region 6 has issued a work stoppage order against the construction of the mall owned by Ayala Land Corporation after the incident, which took the lives of at least two workers.
On Tuesday (November 14, 2017), the labor department will have its hearing regarding the sudden destruction of a portion of Ayala Malls in Bacolod.
DOLE Negros Occidental head Mary Agnes Capigon said that the work stoppage order was issued by the office of regional director Atty. Johnson Cañete.
Capigon said that the agency immediately sent labor inspectors into the area to conduct an investigation regarding the incident.
The work stoppage order will be removed once the contractor has already implemented all the procedure required by the labor department for clearing.
The agency also instructed the project contractor to ensure the safety of the resident residing the near the vicinity of the building.
