Jessica Cox is a Filipina pilot who did not allow her disability to stop her.
JESSICA COX – An armless Filipina, Jessica Cox, proved that disability is never a hindrance to a person geared with optimism.
Despite the fact that she was born without arms which undeniably requires more effort from her in doing things, Jessica Cox was able to hit the Guinness World Record for being the first woman and the only licensed pilot who have no arms.
Aside from being the only pilot who can fly the plane using her feet, Cox is also the first armless black belter in the American Taekwondo Association.
It was because of a rare birth defect that Cox was born with no arms.
Aside from making a name in the field of aeronautics and Taekwondo, the armless Pinay also knows how to drive a vehicle, surf, and as well as play piano. She also engaged in scuba diving.
The graduate of University of Arizona, with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Psychology, is often invited to speak in various occasions and give inspirational messages to people from the different walks of life.
Since she turned 14 years old, the armless Pinay did not seek the aid of prosthetic arms. She can drive unmodified vehicles, place and remove her contact lenses, and type in a keyboard. In fact, she is capable of typing 25 words for every one minute.
Aside from achieving the things that she want to do, Cox also did not allow her disability to keep her from helping other people.
Based on a previous news report, the armless Fil-Am pilot has served as a motivational speaker when a typhoon Yolanda struck the Philippines. She spoke before the survivors of the natural calamity.
Among those who lost their lives when the super typhoon hit the country is the great-aunt of the armless Pinay pilot.
Reportedly, Cox married Patrick Chamberlain in 2012. Chamberlain was her Taekwondo instructor before he was transferred to a different institution and he decided to pursue her.
