Public School Found Illegal Drugs from 2 Students in Mandaluyong City
Two students were apprehended possessing illegal drugs worth around P60,000 inside a public school in Barangay Addition Hills, Mandaluyong City.
On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, a teacher conducted a classroom search leading to the discovery of the illegal drugs, according to the National Capital Region Police Office. The inspection was initially related to reports of a missing cellphone and cash inside the school.
Authorities said an 18-year-old Grade 11 student allegedly attempted to leave the area during the inspection. However, a school security guard was able to stop him before he could get away.
When officials checked the student’s eco-bag, they reportedly found several sachets containing suspected high-grade marijuana, commonly known as kush, along with drug paraphernalia. The discovery prompted a more thorough investigation by school authorities and responding police officers.
Meanwhile, another student, a 17-year-old minor, allegedly tried to prevent authorities from inspecting his bag. After the bag was opened, officers reportedly found a container holding additional sachets of suspected illegal drugs.
Police said a total of 33 sachets of suspected high-grade marijuana were recovered from the two students. The seized substances had an estimated weight of 40 grams and a street value of approximately P60,000.
Authorities emphasized the importance of maintaining a safe learning environment and preventing young people from becoming involved in illegal activities.
Following the incident, the 18-year-old student was placed under police custody for drug testing and inquest proceedings. The 17-year-old student, who is considered a child in conflict with the law, was turned over to a Bahay Pag-asa Youth Center for proper intervention and care.
Investigations are ongoing to determine where the suspected drugs came from and whether other individuals may have been involved. Authorities continue to remind students to stay away from illegal substances and focus on their education and future goals.
