2 Men Killed by Speeding Vehicle While Crossing Road to Eat at Eatery in Antipolo
Two men lost their lives by a speeding vehicle while crossing the road to eat at a nearby eatery in Antipolo City.
The two men were heading toward a small carinderia across the road along Marcos Highway in Sitio Paenaan, Barangay San Jose when the accident happened. Witnesses said the men had paused while crossing to let an approaching car pass safely.
However, after they moved forward again, another vehicle suddenly sped through and struck them. The impact was strong. Both victims were thrown into the air and dragged several meters along the road.
The front part of the vehicle was badly damaged, and the windshield shattered because of the force of the collision.
Emergency responders rushed the victims to the hospital, but both men were declared dead on arrival. They were identified as a 57-year-old jeepney operator and his 45-year-old driver.
According to the investigation of the Antipolo police, the vehicle involved in the crash appeared to be moving at a very high speed. Authorities believe the driver may have been trying to overtake another vehicle on the road and did not notice the two pedestrians crossing.
The area was also described as dark at the time of the incident, which may have contributed to the accident.
One of the victims, jeepney driver Christopher Montillana, is survived by his four children. His eldest daughter shared that their father was a loving parent who always cared deeply for his family.
The accident happened on the birthday of the youngest child. Instead of celebrating, the family was suddenly faced with grief and shock.

The daughter is now asking for help from kind-hearted individuals and local authorities for funeral expenses and for bringing her father’s remains back to Mindoro.
Meanwhile, the 28-year-old driver involved in the incident is now facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in two counts of homicide as the investigation continues.
