The directors reflect on the journey of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.
Coco Martin’s top-rated action series FPJ’s Batang Quiapo is ending soon, and the directors of the series have this to share.
“FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” is officially coming to a close, and lead actor Coco Martin confirmed this. After three years of airing and being consistently on top, FPJBQ will end on March 13, 2026, but this will be replaced by a new series of Coco.

The television adaptation of the film, which originally starred the late Fernando Poe Jr., has drawn strong viewership. As it nears its finale, the directors have begun reflecting on the show’s journey and the challenges they faced along the way.
For director Malu Sevilla, the whole experience was nothing short of rewarding. Everything they did has endured and has come to fruition, and it felt good that their hard work has paid off.
Sevilla has worked with Coco for years, and the first time she worked with him, she already saw his potential. He has visions, and she noticed how smoothly he can improve and develop a character.
She said this about working with the actor, “It’s no walk in the park. But the fulfillment you get as an artist and co-creator iba. The professionalism, discipline, and immense talent he brings to the table ibang klase talaga.”
For director Darnel Villaflor, the series has carried so much pressure, as it followed the massive seven-year run of “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” but regardless, they gave their best in every episode.
“Mataas ‘yung pressure kasi syempre coming from a seven-year streak ng ‘Ang Probinsyano.’ Ito ngayon three years naman. But every episode, we give it our best. The standard set by CCM Film Productions headed by Mr. Coco Martin is very high. Mine-maintain talaga ‘yun,” he said.
Meanwhile, for director Richard V. Somes, he likened the team’s shared success to discovering an oasis, a body of water in the desert. In their journey, the real challenge was in raising the bar in each episode, and he thinks that they have achieved this and they delivered.
