Here’s the new format of the Miss Universe Philippines 2026 pageant.
MISS UNIVERSE PHILIPPINES 2026 – There will be more than 50 candidates for this season, and this is the new format.
More than 50 candidates stepped into the spotlight at the first official event of the Miss Universe Philippines 2026 season, aptly titled “The Reveal,” held today at City of Dreams Manila. They wore striking shades of pink and red as they kicked off the event with a parade around the SM Mall of Asia complex, giving the public a peek at the aspirants.
One of the highlights of the event was the announcement of a new selection format by Executive Vice President Voltaire Tayag. The updated system will feature increased public participation, giving fans the opportunity to vote during the preliminary swimsuit and evening gown competitions, as well as in the closed-door interview segment.
Public votes may help candidates advance into the semifinals.
“We are introducing a new selection format that is intended to rally public support for the delegates, while also showcasing transparency every step of the way,” Tayag said, and added, “We are bringing the journey closer to Filipinos by allowing them to have a significant say in every stage of the pageant.”
Live voting will be introduced during the coronation night with the wildcard slot, and the voting will be done through an official partner app.
A lineup of pre-pageant activities will kick off in March, leading up to the coronation night slated for May 2026. The winner will go on to represent the Philippines at the Miss Universe 2026 pageant in Puerto Rico this November.
Meanwhile, last year, Ahtisa Manalo took home the national crown representing Quezon Province. She finished her Miss Universe 2025 journey as the third runner-up.
