Myrtle Sarrosa Gives Update on Missing Phone and Reveals a More Painful Ordeal
MYRTLE SARROSA – As the search for her missing phone continues, Myrtle Sarrosa revealed new details that have made the situation even more difficult.
Kapuso actress, gamer, and cosplayer Myrtle Sarrosa has provided another update regarding her missing cellphone, which was allegedly stolen during the recent ToyCon event. Despite her efforts to recover the device, it has yet to be returned, and the situation has become even more complicated.
In a Facebook post, Sarrosa revealed that the last known location of her phone, based on its tracker, was in the Greenhills area of San Juan City. Previously, the actress had even offered a cash reward in hopes of recovering the device. However, her attempt to communicate with the person who allegedly obtained the phone led to further concerns.
Myrtle shared screenshots of their conversation, showing that she was reportedly being asked to pay P40,000 in exchange for the return of her cellphone. According to the individual, the phone had been purchased, and they were unaware that it was stolen.
“Pero medyo duda talaga ako kasi impossible naman na may matinong tao na bibili ng locked phone for P40,000 within minutes na hinahabol namin siya,” she said.
The actress initially hoped they could reach a reasonable agreement. However, her concerns intensified when she began receiving suspicious messages that appeared to be attempts to gain access to her personal accounts and online wallets.
“Before anything serious could happen, na-secure ko agad lahat ng accounts ko, napa-suspend ko yung SIM ko, at napa-freeze ko yung wallets and banko ko,” said Myrtle.
Although Myrtle and her team have already sought assistance from authorities, she admitted that recovering the phone may be difficult given the large number of gadgets that circulate daily in resale markets.
More than the value of the device itself, Myrtle is worried about the irreplaceable content stored on it.
“What I’m worried about are my work files, cosplay footage, gameplay recordings, business contacts, game accounts, important conversations, and years of memories. Including some of my last photos and videos with my Lola before she passed away last month,” she said.
She clarified that she is not worried about sensitive photos being leaked because she would never compromise her “faith, values, and principles.”
The actress also expressed the emotional impact of the experience.
“Sobrang sakit talaga na mawalan ng gamit. Pero mas masakit na may mga taong parang babastusin ka pa habang pinagdadaanan mo yung sitwasyon,” said Myrtle.
Despite the unfortunate incident, she ended her post with an important reminder.
“Every stolen phone belongs to someone. Someone worked hard for it. Someone saved up for months or even years to buy it. Someone has memories inside it that can never be replaced,” she said in her post.
Myrtle said, “Regardless of how cheap a locked / stolen phone is being offered, please remember that there may be a victim on the other side of that transaction.”
