Vice Ganda Issues Apology After Bomb Joke on Its Showtime
VICE GANDA – A lighthearted segment quickly turned serious when Vice Ganda addressed his controversial remark on air.
Actor and It’s Showtime host Vice Ganda apologized after making a bomb joke during their live broadcast on Monday, February 2. During the “Laro Laro Pick” segment of the noontime show It’s Showtime, Vice compared the yellow box props used in the game to bombs. The remark, delivered in jest, immediately caught the attention of viewers.
“Players, tapatan lamang ang mga nag-iwan ng bomba sa studio. Parang may mga nag-iwan ng bomba, di’ba? Pag nakita mo ‘yan sa labas di mo pupuntahan ‘yan eh,” Vice jokingly said during the segment, where actor David Licauco was also among the players.

Although the comment was intended as a joke, Vice later clarified that he was unaware that making bomb jokes is strictly prohibited under the law. Right after the “Laro Laro Pick” segment concluded and before the show went on commercial break, the comedian-host addressed the issue and issued a public apology on air.
“Bago tayo mag-cue ng commercial, humihingi po muna kami ng paumanhin dahil do’n sa bomb joke na sinabi ko kanina, ‘yong ‘parang may nag-iwan dito ng bomba do’n sa kahon.’ Bawal daw po pala ‘yong magbigay ng bomb jokes. Wala po akong intensyong masama doon, wala pong malisya do’n. It was just a joke pero bawal daw po ‘yon kaya humihingi po ako ng paumanhin,” said the host.
Vice emphasized that there was no ill intention behind his statement and that it was merely part of the show’s playful banter. However, upon learning that such jokes are not allowed, he immediately took responsibility and expressed regret for his words.

The incident serves as a reminder of the legal implications surrounding bomb-related statements, even when made in jest, especially during live broadcasts.
