Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake in Albay, June 5, 2026
EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 5.4 magnitude quake in Albay today, June 5, 2026. Here are the details.
Following the previous 4.3 magnitude earthquake in Davao Occidental, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake recently hit Albay and it has a strong magnitude of 5.4.
The earthquake that struck Albay today, June 5, 2026, was tectonic in origin. A tectonic quake is a shaking which is a product when the Earth’s crust breaks because of the geological forces on the rocks and the adjoining plates which result to chemical and physical changes.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Albay was located at 13.19°North, 123.89°East – 013 km South 67° East of Santo Domingo, Albay. It had a depth of focus of 010 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake but there may be aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was felt at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas. The following instrumental intensities were logged in these areas:
