Recently, Marksdelacruz, a Threads user, shared his experience after a tricycle driver charged him P500 for a ride from the pier to his guesthouse. The post quickly went viral and received various reactions online.

The tourist shared his experience online after arriving at the pier. From there, he was supposed to travel to his guesthouse, which was located just a short distance away. Dela Cruz explained that he was Filipino and that the guesthouse was only a few minutes away. Despite this, the fare remained the same. Feeling disappointed and uncomfortable with the situation, he decided not to continue with the ride.

Instead, he chose to walk while pulling his luggage to reach his guesthouse.

Many netizens expressed frustration, saying that overpriced fares can leave a bad impression on tourists and harm the image of popular destinations like Palawan. Others shared similar experiences, not only in Palawan but also in other tourist spots across the country.

Some people pointed out that while tourists should expect higher rates in certain areas, there should still be fair and reasonable pricing, especially for short trips. Others encouraged travelers to ask for fares ahead of time, use accredited transport services, or walk when distances are manageable.
