LTO Issues Show-Cause Order vs Government Employee Involved in Viral Traffic Altercation
The Land Transportation Office has summoned a government employee who hurt another motorist during a traffic altercation.
Recently, the Land Transportation Office – Philippines Facebook page shared the show-cause order issued against the government employee who figured in a dispute and assaulted a fellow motorist. The post quickly went viral and drew reactions online.
The order was released under the direction of LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao to ensure that the incident is properly investigated and addressed. The case involves a government employee who was seen engaging in an argument that turned physical while on the road.

Based on the show-cause order, the employee involved, along with a representative from the government agency where the vehicle is registered, has been summoned by the Intelligence and Investigation Division.
They are required to attend a hearing scheduled on January 27, 2026, at 1:00 in the afternoon. During the hearing, they must submit a clear and verified explanation regarding the incident.
The LTO stated that the individuals involved need to explain why they should not face administrative charges for obstruction and why the employee’s driver’s license should not be suspended for being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.
The government employee’s action was considered inappropriate for someone driving on a public road, especially for a government employee.
While the investigation is ongoing, the vehicle used in the incident has been placed under alarm status. The driver’s license of the employee has also been suspended for 90 days as a precautionary measure.
The LTO emphasized that government employees are expected to show discipline, respect, and proper conduct at all times, particularly in public spaces. The agency assured the public that due process will be followed, and that road safety and responsible behavior remain top priorities.
