The first impeachment case was filed against President Bongbong Marcos, and here are the allegations.
PRESIDENT BONGBONG MARCOS IMPEACHMENT – These are the arguments or allegations in the filed impeachment complaint.
On Monday, Pusong Pinoy Party-list Rep. Jett Nisay endorsed an impeachment complaint against President Bongbong Marcos. This is the first to be filed under the administration against the president.
The impeachment complaint, which cited six arguments prepared by lawyer Andre de Jesus, a private citizen. The impeachment complaint against Marcos was submitted to the House of Representatives’ Office of the Secretary General.
Of the six arguments cited, they were anchored on the grounds of culpable violation of the Constitution, betrayal of public trust, and graft and corruption.
The arguments or allegations against Marcos cited are the following:
- Respondent ordered and enabled the kidnapping and surrender of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
- Respondent is unfit to serve as President due to drug addiction.
- Respondent committed betrayal of public trust when he failed to veto unprogrammed appropriations (UA) and other unconstitutional provisions in the General Appropriations Bill (GAB).
- Respondent engaged in graft and corruption through kickbacks and ghost projects.
- Respondent created the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) to shield corrupt allies.
- Respondent violated the Constitution and betrayed public trust by surrendering former President Duterte to the ICC.
In a previous article, Senator Imee Marcos reacted to the impeachment complaint and said that it’s just another drama series. She expressed, “Isa na namang drama series na mukhang tatagal ng isang taon. Kilala naman natin sinong nag-file at anong background kaya ‘yun nga baka drama series lang ‘to para sa isang taong tagal.”
Meanwhile, PBBM is confident despite the complaint submitted already because he believes that he doesn’t have any “impeachable offense.” While the processes take course, the president assured the public that he will continue working to ensure public services are uninterrupted and that the government is focused on improving the lives of the people.
