LTO Issues Show Cause Order Against Man Who Punched Female Rider in Viral Caloocan Video
The Land Transportation Office suspends the license of a male motorist who punched a female rider in Caloocan City.
Recently, the Facebook page of the Land Transportation Office–Philippines issued a show cause order against the man who punched a female rider in a viral video in Caloocan City. The post garnered various reactions from the online community.
According to the LTO, a 90-day preventive suspension has been imposed on the driver’s license of the male rider involved in the incident that happened along Camarin Road. The order was issued under the leadership of LTO Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao as part of the agency’s effort to address dangerous behavior among motorists.

Aside from the suspension, the LTO through its Intelligence and Investigation Division also issued a Show Cause Order against the rider and the registered owner of the Honda motorcycle used during the incident.
The order requires them to explain why no administrative case should be filed against the rider for being unfit to operate a motor vehicle. Initial findings showed that the incident started with a heated argument involving the male rider, the female rider, and a tricycle driver.
The situation escalated when the male rider suddenly approached and physically attacked the female rider, who was only waiting for a booking. Security personnel nearby tried to calm him down as the incident unfolded.

The rider and the motorcycle owner have been ordered to appear at a hearing scheduled on January 6, 2025, at the LTO Central Office in Quezon City. They are required to submit a sworn explanation and bring all documents related to the motorcycle involved.
While the investigation is ongoing, the motorcycle has been placed under alarm status due to the seriousness of the allegations. The LTO warned that failure to attend the hearing or submit the required explanation would mean giving up the right to be heard, and the case would be decided based on available evidence.
