The “story time” posted by actress and Quezon City councilor Aiko Melendez about Vice President Sara Duterte became widely talked about online after she shared it on Facebook on Thursday, December 23. The post quickly gained attention as Aiko spoke openly about her long-time connection with the Vice President and the personal messages they have exchanged through the years.

Aiko disclosed that her relationship with Vice President Sara goes back a long way and that they communicate directly through private messages. She noted that one of the things she deeply admires about VP Sara is her manner of dealing with people who seek assistance, whether the issue is minor or a serious concern.

“Personal po siyang sumasagot sa mga mensahe,” Aiko said, pointing out that even though VP Sara holds the second-highest position in the country, she rarely lets a day pass without responding to messages. She recounted a recent instance when she reached out to the Vice President and received a reply in just 30 minutes, something she found impressive considering the demanding schedule of a national official.

The actress also recognized that strict security and protocol surround the Vice President and that VP Sara does not always personally manage her phone. Despite this, Aiko said she remains impressed by the Vice President’s ability to make time for others, whether the conversation involves personal matters, serious concerns, or lighter topics that call for warmth and humor.

Aiko likewise highlighted VP Sara’s resilience as a woman. She shared that the Vice President has faced numerous trials but has remained strong throughout. She emphasized this by saying, “Ang kanyang katapangan bilang isang babae ay hindi matatawaran. Napakarami na po niyang pinagdaanan, ngunit hindi siya kailanman pinanghinaan ng loob.”

She also conveyed a touching message directly addressed to the Vice President: “Salamat po, Madam, dahil kailanman ay hindi ninyo pinaramdam sa akin ang bigat ng estado ng inyong posisyon.
