3 Provincial Vet Office Employees Voluntarily Resigned After Receiving Extortion Complaint
Three employees of the Provincial Veterinary Office in Negros Occidental resigned after receiving an extortion complaint.
The employees decided to step down from their posts following complaints that they allegedly asked for money in exchange for processing official documents.
Instead of responding to the show-cause order issued by the Provincial Legal Office, the three employees submitted their resignation letters. The governor accepted their resignations without delay. Their departure from the office will officially take effect this coming August.

The issue started when the employees were accused of demanding P25,000 to speed up the release of a document called the Recognition of Active Surveillance (RAS), which is related to African Swine Fever (ASF) monitoring.
The case caught attention as the transaction reportedly involved a request for something that should have followed regular procedures without extra charges.
All three of the individuals involved are regular employees of the provincial government. One of them was assigned to the main office of the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO), while the other two were stationed in the PVO branch serving the 4th District.

The resignation of the employees has raised discussions about accountability and transparency in public service. While the legal process could have gone further with formal responses and possible administrative hearings, the choice to resign has put an early end to their involvement in the case.
Local officials are reminding the public to report any suspicious transactions, especially when it involves government services that are supposed to be free or processed through proper channels.
The incident reminds the public trust should never be taken for granted, and every action of a public servant matter.
